  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
Next Project: Cruisn Exotica Conversion?
« on: March 18, 2019, 05:11:51 pm »
I have an opportunity to purchase a dual cabinet Cruisn Exotica arcade setup for 1200$  Its in good condition, and working.  My plans would be to convert these to mame/model2/etc. emulation.  Does anyone know what type of job I am getting myself into?  I once converted a street fighter 3 arcade cabinet to mame, but that pretty much a gut job and replacement (just reused the controls).  Am i looking something similar here?  Would love to reuse the wheel/shifter/pedals, but only if i can maintain force feedback compatibility with all the emulators that support them (otherwise, i would swap them out with G29 wheels).

Finally, does anyone feel Id be doing a disservice by gutting/converting these?  Not sure that Cruisn Exotica is high on the list of "must preserve" titles?

Considering the asking price and the fact that those machines are working, I would NOT suggest you to convert those arcades.
It's full of non working units out there waiting for a thinkerer to gather new life ;)

Yeah especially considering you'd have to gut them to get working what you want working.  You can find shells for a lot less.
