Have an older Sportcraft air hockey table that works fine, other than the electronic scoring. Goals no longer register. I'm assuming it's a sensor issue, but not sure how to fix this.
Looks like you're dealing with a microswitch sensor.
To test if the switch is the problem:
1. Remove power.
2. Scratch through the clear protective coating (if any) covering the microswitch PCB connection points (red arrows) to expose bare solder/metal.
3. Assuming this system uses a normally open switch, a multimeter should show no continuity between the points unless and until the switch is pressed.
4. Restore power.
5. When you short the points, the scoring electronics should register a goal.
- If it does, there is probably an electrical or mechanical problem with the microswitch/lever arm/linkage.
- If it doesn't, the problem is probably in the scoring electronics.
